About this website
My name is Wim Hollebrandse, a software engineer with an ever receding hairline, a passion for technology and I live in the UK.
Having been in software development for over 20 years (crikey, I feel old) now, I can wholeheartedly say that I still love it.
Throughout my career I have had various side projects from time to time, most of them utterly failing for a number of reasons.
Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker. Failure is delay, not defeat. It is a temporary detour, not a dead end. Failure is something we can avoid only by saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing. Denis Waitley
This blog, Why Websites Work, is yet another attempt at such a project. With it, I hope to combine my passion for software development and web technologies specifically as well as my interest in writing, to produce content like blog posts and articles that are full of valuable and actionable advice and enable any small business owner, writer, entrepreneur or current and prospective bloggers to set up and run their own website or online blog and turn it into a success.
In the process, I am discovering tools and services that might help you along the way too. Feel free to check them out.
I would be happy to have you onboard and join me on this exciting journey!
If you haven’t already, please check out 5 reasons why you should start a blog or website this year and 7 things to get right before starting your website or blog.
